The Portland Beavers today announced that tonight’s scheduled game against the Reno Aces has been postponed and has been rescheduled as part of a doubleheader at PGE Park on Friday, June 26, at 4:30 p.m. The teams will play two seven-inning games.

Wednesday afternoon, a small, recently installed light fixture at PGE Park came loose and fell to the ground, prompting the postponement; no one was injured.

“While there are likely no safety concerns, we would rather error on the side of extreme caution, as the safety of our fans and workers is our number one priority,” said Merritt Paulson, president and general manager of the Beavers. “We need to be 100-percent assured as to the park’s safety.”

The remaining overhead lights at PGE Park will undergo a thorough inspection to ensure structural integrity. Inspectors are confident all lighting fixtures will be fully inspected and secured by Thursday afternoon before gates open to the public for the 7:05 p.m. game against the Aces.

Tickets for Wednesday’s game can be redeemed for a future Beavers’ regular-season game. Exchanges must be made at the PGE Park box office.
