HILLSBORO, Ore. - Our new minor league baseball team, the Hillsboro Hops, is about to kick off its first season and tickets go on sale this Saturday.
The first game for the Hillsboro Hops is June 14 in Salem, where they will play a three-game series against the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. The team will then make their home debut in their new stadium in Hillsboro on Monday, June 17 when they host the Eugene Emeralds for a three-game series.
Single-game tickets can be purchased online starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 1.
The Hillsboro Hops are the Single-A baseball affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks of Major League Baseball. The franchise relocated to Hillsboro in 2012 and will begin play this year. The team's season will run from mid-June to early September.
The team is part of the 58-year-old Northwest League, which includes teams in Boise, Eugene, Salem-Keizer, Tri-Cities, Spokane, Everett and Vancouver B.C. Major league stars who rose to prominence via the Northwest League include Ken Griffey Jr., Felix Hernandez, Edgar Martinez, Reggie Jackson, Ozzie Smith, Rickey Henderson and Tony Gwynn.
