Hammer throw: Skirt or dress?
Loree Smith is going to the Olympics. By Joe Raineri and KVAL Web StaffEUGENE, Ore. -- Loree Smith is a Eugene resident and Olympic qualifier in the hammer throw. "I just really like it, and it brings out my personality into the hammer," Smith said. "I've tried skirts and dresses. I love them all." On Saturday, Smith qualified for Beijing with a throw of more than 220 feet. "Well I have tried a couple of the different uniforms and I just like this one plays with centrifugal force of the turns and I look really good in it." Smith decides what to wear for each competition as if she's getting ready for a fancy cocktail party. "I like the skirt," she said. "The dress is a little more formal -- for the actual finals." So what can we expect her to be wearing when she goes for the gold? "There's a couple of different uniforms to try on," Smith said. "I might try the buns or the hot shorts. We'll see which ones I like." |
