PORTLAND, Ore. - The Chicago Cubs have invited former Southridge High and Oregon State shortstop Darwin Barney to spring training.

Barney led the Beavers to back-to-back College World Series championships in 2006 and 2007. He started his professional career after Chicago drafted him in the fourth round of the 2007 draft.

The 24-year-old split last season between Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa, batting .293 in 464 at-bats.
