Police & Fire
Oregon State Police - Confirmed Fatal Crash Hwy 30 MP 94 east of Astoria. Info released later today, Use alternate routes. Traffic updates TripCheck.com. UPDATE
Salem Police Dept. - At 3:00 a.m., Salem Police responded to a single vehicle accident at Liberty St NE and Grove St NE. When officers arrived, they found the driver had fled on foot from the accident scene. The vehicle, a 1995 Infiniti 4-door sedan, had severed a PGE power pole at the Northeast corner of the intersection. The right (east) lane of Liberty St NE will be closed for the next 4-5 hours while PGE replaces the pole. We are asking motorists to avoid this area at all possible. There will be traffic delays while PGE arranges to replace the power pole. Officers have developed suspect information as to the identity of the driver, but that infromation will not be released for investigative purposes at this time.
Transportation
ODOT: Valley, No. Coast - US 30 (Lower Columbia River Hwy.) remains closed approximately 3 miles east of Astoria (MP 94.4) after a crash. There is no detour. The closure could last until 11 a.m. or longer. Motorists are advised to take an alternate route or expect lengthy delays.
