Yesterday's thunder and lightning storm sparked several fires in our area of Tygh Valley. Neighbors and I watched these two start last night and then begin to smolder. Today they are growing as you can see, Wed. 8/18/10 around 2:45 p.m.

Is there anywhere that we can pull up a map of current fires burning in or around central oregon? I have family out of town, and need to know if there area is in danger of evacuation...

I was out in Dufur and Tygh Valley yesterday when that storm hit. I lost count how many fires started. There was a fire along US 197 just south of Tygh Valley. Also saw one near Sherars, and another on top of a hill. And many more spot fires.
