Lyle Fire on August 27, 11 pm

This fire started small apparently from the wind blowing down trees that knocked down power lines which started the blaze... then on Friday it really took off and spread to over 1200 acres. By Saturday night it was already at 2, 040 acres having spread up along the Klickitat RIver and up the west bank and over the hill to the norh and west. Rough terrain makes it hard for the fire fighters... only one road really goes through part of the fire, the Fisher Hill ROad which is still closed. Canyon Road and Highway 142 were closed for awhile but have re opened, and many people have been able to return to their homes.

Night shots are amazing. Great composition in those two images! It almost looks like a war zone from a movie, but this is real. NWCC reported a safety issue firefighters also had to be on lookout for was rattlesnakes.
