NEAR KLICKITAT, Wash.-Emergency crews extinguished a small roadside fire along Washington Hwy. 142 around 5 p.m. this evening.
The small blaze charred the grass on a steep slope along Hwy. 142 at milepost 8.
Highway traffic was stopped as crews extinguished the fire.
After the fire was put out, the highway reopened for passage at 5:15 p.m.
The cause of the blaze is not known.
The small roadside fire was a few miles north of the Highway 8 Fire that started last week. With a spot of smoke or two, much of the Highway 8 Fire appears to be out.
