Ok, I am confused. is this a Pumpkin, a Cantaloupe , or a squash?

I don't a seed packet for this thing. None of my packages have a picture of this item. what ever it is it is growing pretty well.

Now for the rest of the story:
Castle Rock WA as many of you may or may not know resides along the Cowlitz River. This small city suffered a lot of damage when the mountain blew. as a result though the soil is very rich for growing things and good drainage. its mostly of river sediment, and ash.

What ever the composition, plants seem to love it. and scientists said nothing would grow in this stuff?

Well I carved that thing, I came to learn it was a moon pumpkin....because of the unueual summer, the pumpkin never reahed its full potnetual :(

It is possible for cukes and squash to cross-pollinate too -- one year my parents had an accidental cross of zuchini and cukes -- didnt know it til you ate one -- the most bitter vegetable I have ever tasted!

Well, looks like I'll have to wait and see when the thing matures. and it is true I do have my pumpkin pretty close to that thing. All I know is it keeps getting bigger and bigger. How rare would it be to get a rogue seed in a seed packet?

I'd say it is definitely a winter squash - variaty unknown. From what I see in the picture the leaves of the plant are to round and the fruit to large to be a lemon cuke. Also fruit is missing the little small dark "spines" of a lemon cuke

I do not know what that is, but squash will cross pollinate so it is probably some kind of accidental cross. Like pumpkin and crookneck squash mixed together.
