My family and I were out doing some crabbing on the Siletz Bay yesterday Friday October 8. During the excursion, my son Joshua, age 7, was patiently fishing in between pulling of crab pots. To his great surprise his line started moving up the bay so he reeled in and dangiling on the hook was this baby salmon. He is the first one in the family to catch one even though we had to release it. We came home with 7 crabs to cook up, but this catch that my son made is by far the catch of the day on our boat!
Our first salmon caught this year!

Well at least he caught a salmon, that's more than I've done!

Thanks Brenda...it is all part of the learning process. He was proud! Oh and the fish did not die, it swam away quite alive and safely. We do respect what we catch that cannot be kept whether it is fish or shellfish. :)

Hang in there, it's good to start small and work your way up to the 50 pounders. Good luck
