I was riding an ATV in the Jones Creek area near Larch Mountain in Clark County. I could smell these guys well before I came up on them, and was stunned when I saw what my nose told me was there. This was by far the largest and deepest area of the creek; immediately below this the creek was a few feet wide and no more than 6" deep. It's a wonder that these fellows made it this far. Some were easily pushing 4' in length. A really poignant view - the only sound and movement in the forest that day was the water.

Yes. Fisheries dumps dead salmon in the tributaries. Did you not notice any fish in the trees or up on the banks? They shoot fish out of a truck in that area quite regularly. They say its better for the ecosystem to dump them rather than some els

I'm sure this is normal, just was a really large group of them. I've seen dead salmon before, but never in this kind of volume. There was a concrete culvert there I was over - I'm sure it contributed. They spawned...I think that was the end for them.

Know why this happened? Ever hear the phrase my salmon dont swim up stream? Well these salmon do... As do most all of them.
