Soak, Float, & Fish!

Our friend, Randy, built this floating hot tub fishing vessel. It has a trolling motor and downriggers for catching the "big one". The saltwater hot tub is heated with an in-tank wood-burning stove. It's legally registered as a boat in Alaska and makes everyone on the dock smile with envy. They all want one! Randy caught a salmon on his second voyage while trolling as he soaked in the hot tub. Now that's living! (Ronda Shelby's recent presentation of a floating gazebo encouraged me to submit this unique fishing & relaxation craft.)

Serious play! This looks like the way to fish to me!

I live in Soldotna Alaska on the Kenai river. The summers are real short, so this is a brilliant idea. Why waste precious summer daylight (24 hrs) in the hot tub, when you can be fishing at the same time. crazy or brilliant. who cares?

Bryan, that's funny! I'm glad you like it. It's a one-of-a-kind, that's for sure!

Very interesting and quirky. Just don't run out of wood for the wood stove while at sea where you need to burn the boat! Thanks for posting.

Northerner, where do you live? Aren't there any creative types where around you? I think that it's people like this who make life interesting. And.... HEY!!!.... I grew up in CA, moved to OR many years ago, and go to AK in the summer. Hmmm... :-)

You folks be a tad mentally strange up there. Just like those weirdos in CA. Please stay up there, we don't want more here.
