This is another beautiful shot of tonight's central Oregon sunset. The effect is not a double exposure, but rather, what is called a zoom burst.

Thanks vswag, I was afraid of that. I used to do sports photography, so had the typical camera and various lenses to cart around wherever I went. With this new camera, I just wanted one I could point and shoot - it's limiting, but I do like it.

You get the zoom burst effect when you twist the zoom lens during the shot. It works best when you have a slow shutter speed and you must have a lens you can twist. Unfortunately, I don't know of a camera other than an SLR or DSLR that will do this.

That is a gorgeous picture! What is a 'zoom burst' and how do you achieve it? We have many beautiful sunrises and sunsets and lots of mountains in AZ that I'd love to try this 'zoom burst' on. Thanks. My new camera is not an SLR - does that matter?
