My window seal

I live in the Notting Hill neighborhood of Beaverton. About six months ago, a company was hired to complete some siding restoration on the townhouses that I live in. First of all, the company was told to remove my satelite dish. They removed the dish and cut the cord leading into my house, causing me $168.95 in replacement cost, plus $209.94 in bills for the past six months I have not been able to watch my TV but I still have been paying for it. Not only that, they refused calls regarding the issue. I have also come home to find that my back door had been removed, and workers inside my home under instruction of the HOA without notice to me. I am a 20 year old single female living alone, and came home to find my door removed...that is not okay with me at all. The company used my electricity and burned out a circuit, leaving my without electricity for four days before they fixed it. None of my windows are sealed, and insulation is falling through into my home. Since I was temporarily without heat at one point, on a 28 degree night, I had no window seals and froze all night for weeks. After prompt calls to my property management company, the siding company and numerous attempts to contact teh HOA, I finally had someone call me back. Bob from Superior Community Management called me back. He rudely asked "what my issue" is. I explained that I need to k now where my satelite dish is, and he interrupted me saying I have one and that I have cable service. I tried to exlpain to him that under oregon law, they can't refuse satelite service to residents because it creates a monolpoly for comcast. He promptly told me I was incorrect. I informed him that I contacted the Better Business Beareau and that he would be sued and he responded with "whatever." Whatever you do, DO NOT RENT FROM SUPERIOR COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT. I want my story heard, nioobody else seems to care to help me out.

The trouble with blogs is that you only get one side of the story. This lady is a renter. Has her landlord been involved? Who would pay cable for 6 mo. without service! Just sounds like someone not taking responsibility.

This sounds more like an issue with the contractor and not the PM. The guys working on the property have done a shoddy job and will hopefully not be contracted by your PM again but you signed with the PM, like it or leave.

You should look into purchasing Prepaid Legal services. It is only about $35 a month and you can call your attorney at any time and they will take care of interacting with idiots like this. They fix it quickly when your lawyer calls or get sued.

Call the Construction Contractors Board and the BBB with your information. They usually can help. I'd also recommend an attorney and most reputable attorneys will tell you if there is a case. Ask your friends and family for local recommendations.

Get a concealed permit. A young woman coming home to her door removed and people inside her residence, without her knowledge, would fear for her life.....ya mean?

I looked on Google Maps and there are no reviews of Superior Community Management. I hope this young lady will write one. I would but it's not my place. I'd write one for the contractor doing the work also...

You better check the BBB as they are currently rating Superior as A-. I hope you filed a complaint. Contact an atty and get KATU to do on on-the-air investigation and story. I am sure if on the air, Superior wouldn't want negative publicity.

If your renting you don't have a right to attach a sattelite dish to the property with out permission from the management property. If you own then they must provide you an alternative location to attach your sattelite or provide you a "shared" Sat.

It sounds to me like this homeowner has a beef about the contractors and not the management company. The homeowner needs to let the mgmt co know her vendor issues so they can let the vendor correct things and also attend bd meetings to stay informed

Have you considered contacting the consumer advocate reporter at KATU. They might consider airing your story. Send registered mail for any correspondence so that you have proof of correspondence.

Keep in mind, the PM company MAY tell you about their satellite dish policy, which might include prohibiting attachment to the building, being placed in line of sight, etc. This is legal in Oregon. Nothing else they have done- or not done- is legal.

Politely ask for his full name, Then Inform him that your Uncle that works for the IRS is interested in your problem and has offered his help. Works Everytime!

There are so many broken laws here you might get a lawyer to do it pro-bono, also, my company has a free legel advice phone #, depending on where or if you work...sometimes there's help in obscure places.

I once had a property management company attempt to keep half of my $1000 rental deposit for BS charges (cleaning the blinds, etc). I filed online complaints with every agency I could find (BBB, AG, FTC), and they finally said come get your money.

They are also probably aware that a 20 yr old female has little money to obtain legal representation.

Unfortunately, due to your young age and inexperience, you are being terribly screwed over. If you have documentation of everything you've written here with pictures, phone receipts and faxes, the next move is to get an attorney. You go get 'em girl!
