I was suddenly awoke by the lightning and thunder. It was just going nuts from all directions heading toward the east. I jumped up and grabbed the camera hoping I would get something. When I got out there I just started capturing picture after picture with 1 second exposures. The storm got closer and closer until it hit! Flash with the most powerful clap of thunder I've ever experienced. It hurt my ears it was so close. I was so happy to know that I got such a close lightning strike on my camera. I ran back to my house as fast as I could with my tail between my legs. What a rush!
It was so close it hurt my ears.

Hey--Dr. Smacker--your comment smacks of sarcasm. I think it is a stunning photograph and the story fits the picture quite well.Try to evolve past the idiom. I am sure the writer is fully aware humans have no tails, but they can sure be asses, huh?
