Corey and Zack Finally Got Salmon!

Corey and Zack Finally Got Salmon!

My boyfriend, Greg, is an avid fisherman - out on the Columbia in his boat every chance he gets...he almost always comes home with salmon. My 14 yr. old son, Corey, also loves to fish. For some reason though, every time Corey came with us this summer (5 or 6 times), we never caught anything, which was of course completely frustrating for Corey! So on this day (Labor Day weekend 2011), Corey brought along his friend, Zack. We had been out for about 6 hours with no action at all! Corey was pretty frustrated. Greg even told us he would take us in because it was so boring! The boys decided to give it another few minutes. Then it happened - finally Corey got a fish on...and then lost it while trying to reel it in. Oh, he was SO MAD!!! Almost as soon as we were anchored and the rods were out again, another fish on! We all wanted Corey to grab that rod, but he said, "no, give it to Zack," who then proceeded to net a real beauty. You could just see the disappointment in Corey's eyes even though he was a really good sport about it. As soon as we had all the rods in again, another fish on! Corey grabbed the rod and finally, FINALLY, got this beautiful salmon. It turned out to be a great day, and the smiles tell the whole story! These salmon weighed about 20 pounds or so.
