This beautiful Blue Darner Dragonfly landed on the Iris beside our bench in the back yard. I got my camera and began taking macro close-up pictures. I always take a large number of pictures because I have learned that it's hit or miss as to whether the auto-focus gets a crisp picture. This one was the best I got. We noticed that it was inserting it's ovopositer (sp?) into the Iris leaf, I assume laying eggs.
Notice the ovopositer near the tail end.
