I am starting to find all those medicare programs showing the elderly are now becoming "Politically Incorrect".
Why do I say this?
It is because it is not just the elderly that are receiving benefits, but younger people as young as 18 can and are getting medicare benefits as well.
They either need to revamp the commercials or revamp the entire way people get benefits.
Many of those are getting benefits because of a deceased parent either mother or father and because they are disabled and can not work because of no fault of there own.
There are then special rules enacted to help protect their benefits as well; like the not so well known protection that protects the two individuals from losing there benefits when they get married. Unlike the protection that seniors lose.
The way this works is that when two disabled adult children get married they do not lose there benefits simply because of a rule that states that they are both disabled adults and are receiving the max allowed of monies and will not need SSDI.
While this is a noble cause, it is also the reason why social security is going broke.
it can not afford nor was it ever designed to afford those that are of the younger generation who can have children.
This is not an argument on rather or not disabled persons should or should be able to have or not have kids That is a question that morally can not be answered .
Instead it is touches us all because when these people who are young and they want to have kids, it trows a massive "cog" in the entire works because those that now need other benefits are unable to get the benefits that they need.
I believe that this part of social security should be cut.
While a noble cause, it is a secret weapon to rob the younger generation of the many benefits they need . It also robs from the elderly and throws the entire system out of balance.
S though I and my fiance receive SSA, I am for those who are retired to get and only be the ones to get SSA. and if you do further digging you will learn that after medicare costs are paid, and other medical insurances are paid there is no real gain...to me it is a complete waste. This is what SSDI is for..
This is the reason why SSDI came to be ..It is suppose to be a separate entity to aid those who are physically and or mentally are unable to work.
Now when a person receives SSA and they have a child , they do not get many services that would normally be available for families even if there child has a disability.
So, with that in mind stop and think for a minute.
Is it really a good idea for any of the younger generation to get any of the SSA benefits due retirees ?
In my opinion no, I do not think we 18-40 should get SSA.
its not fair to the seniors, its not fair to those that may or may not have children (which can not be argued as it is a moral and ethical question for two consenting adults.)
