Sewer work causes detour for Springwater cyclists

SOUTHEAST PORTLAND - Bicyclists riding on SE Umatilla Street through the Sellwood neighborhood will soon have to take a detour around a sewer construction site.

Sewer construction work will begin soon on SE Umatilla between SE 11th Ave. and SE 19th Ave. and may take several months to complete.

SE Umatilla will be closed to through traffic within the construction site.

Bicyclists can detour around SE Umatilla by using SE Spokane Street or another alternative route such as SE Sherrett Street.

SE Umatilla is part of a designated bike route that links a one-mile gap in the Springwater Corridor Trail between The Three Bridges and Sellwood Park.
