Back in December we noticed that this hummer had not left for the winter, so we started putting out the feeder during the day. He doesn't seem to mind the cold, but he sure gets mad if we forget to put out the feeder

I hung a 15 watt light bulb directly under the hummingbird feeder. It prevent the sugar water from freezing.

There's a pair of hummingbirds hanging out near my apartment in Northwest, too. I refilled my feeder and they've been coming back frequently throughout the day. It's so fun to watch them zip around in the snow!

We were surprised a week ago (right in the cold snap) to see a humingbird and thought for sure it would be dead the next morning. When it was still there, we got two feeders, keep one warm, and trade them out during the day, Happy hummer!

Part 2 I wonder if hummingbirds melt some nectar with their hot little tongues. They shelter close by, keeping watch over the feeder. Today 2 birds used the frozen feeder simultaneously rather than chasing each other away as is their usual practice.

Here in lincoln city we have snow and freezing wind yet the hummingbirds are still around. They were trying to eat from a frozen feeder, so I gave them some fresh nectar and will watch over it. I was nearly attacked by them as I put out fresh nectar!

I live in Astoria, Oregon. I was startled to see a couple hummingbirds at a feeder in front of the kitchen window today that had been left out since summer accidently. I was quite surpised since it is Dec. 14th and snowing hard. This is a 1st,ammazed

Oh this is too funny, we have one just like that. Been here all winter and one night I forgot the feeder only to be woke by my wife in the morning telling me the hummer was really mad. I imagine I'd be mad too!
