MHCC 50-meter swimming pool

Swim with Tom Cruise at MHCC

Want to see a movie? What better way to spend a summer evening than floating in the big pool at Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) while watching Tom Cruise on the big screen.

After five years on hiatus, the MHCC Aquatic Center Dive-In Movie Special makes a return to the big screen this summer. At sunset, around 7:15 p.m., families and friends are welcome to spend time floating, splashing and swimming in the College’s 50-meter Olympic size pool. Film classics such as “Jaws” and “Top Gun” and other crowd favorites will be played on the electric scoreboard for viewers of all ages.

“We wanted to bring back Dive-In Movies as a fun event for the community,” says Steve Hula, manager of aquatics and recreation. “It provides a nice way for people to relax in the big pool on a hot day while enjoying movies for no extra charge.”

Dive-In Movies will begin June 29 and continue July 6 and 13 and Aug. 3, 10, 17 and 31. Prices are the same for open swim: $4.50 for adults, $3.25 for children 18 and younger and seniors. MHCC students, staff and pool members’ admission is free with current ID or punch card. There is no extra charge to view the movie.

“This event is great for people of all ages — everyone loves to lounge in the big pool and float around,” notes Hula.

So suit up for the summer and don’t forget your flotation toys!

Summer Camps
