Hundreds of us gathered to watch the Portland waterfront fireworks show last night, only to heave a collective groan to find we were facing in the wrong direction, and a big old tree blocked half our view! As I craned my neck to catch a glimpse, the cheerful fellow behind me said, "Hey! You can see the reflection of the fireworks in the downtown buildings! Now THAT would make a great picture." So I "refocused" my efforts and my camera on the cityscape, where the fireworks painted abstract murals across the windows of skyscrapers.
