Well... I'm about beside myself right about now.
Last night after I returned from the lake I only processed the large pano and didn't really look at the other shots that I had taken. While I was processing the panorama I was really, really wondering about the light behind Mount Hood. It just wasn't the same pale orange glow of sodium lights from a city or a town. It had a magenta hue to it that was just different... but it was late and i ignored it.
It turns out that there's some vigorous sun spot activity at the moment which is allowing some views of the Northern Lights at this latitude. And so when I got home this afternoon I got out the files that I had gotten last night and sure as shootin'... I caught the Northern Lights. It was the most active around 11:30 - 11:45.
This is a shot that I got during its peak. Woo Hoo!!! :)
I didn't change the colors. This is it!
