PORTLAND, Ore. - An unusual early spring snow shower fell on the Portland area this morning, but was not sticking at lower elevations.

A strong cold low pressure system moved into the area, bringing snowfall to northwestern Oregon and southwest Washington, according to the snow advisory statement issued by the National Weather Service office in Portland.

Around 8 a.m. this morning, rain drops turned into snow flakes in the Milwaukie area, but did not stick or accumulate.

The National Weather Service office in Portland issued a snow advisory for today in the Portland area.
