Alla Prima translates from Italian to "all-at-once". Artists who paint Alla Prima or "Plein Air" paint in real time generally completing a painting in one sitting from direct observation. (It is exactly the same way the French Impressionists did over a hundred years ago). Recently some like-minded artists got together to paint on Belmont Street in front of Stumptown coffee.
