Ryan Nelson is planning on attending college next fall with a an engineering majoring. His Philomath High School Senior Project began this past summer by drawing the plans and then constructing a barn on their property outside Corvallis.
The sides were up and braced. The trusses were delivered and most were erected this past week. The south end of the barn remained open in case one of the fall/winter storms sent strong winds across the 100-acre field to their south.
After a day of celebrating the win with his team (Philomath) at the 4A Oregon State Boys Soccer Finals he came home from school Monday and found the barn totally collapsed and Bella, their horse, rather anxious.
Ryan is regrouping after this reverse barn-raising. As soon as the driveway dries out (they live along the banks of the Mary's River) the rebuilding process will start over.
