Century Plant Blooming a Really BIG Deal

On the Saturday evening newscast you had a picture of a Century plant from Carmichael, California. The plant had sent up a stalk, but had not yet bloomed. Here is a picture taken in La Spezia, Italy last year of a Century plant in bloom. They are rather commonplace there, but I believe they are native to North America and can be found on the Oregon coast in the Gold Beach area.

My mother lives in Oraville, CA and she has one blooming right now, the second one, one bloomed last yr too. 5/7/08
