Recently I noticed camper trailers in my neighbors side and backyard. Soon I started to smell sewage in my own backyard where my small children play and my dog hangs out. I called code enforcement and reported the problem and was assured something would be done. After a few more weeks of watching people live in these campers and the sewage smell got worse I called code enforcement again. I was told that my neighbor was a habitual offender and that a case would be opened. I told her that I had called already and spoke with her before and was told something would be done. She told me again that a case would be opened and it would be taken care of. that was over a month ago. During the weekend while it was very hot I opened my back door and had a fan on not realizing that I was pumping toxin into my house. I became very ill the next day and was sick the entire weekend. Today 05-19-08 I called the Health department and was told that it was very possible that I got sick from the sewage in my neighbors backyard. She proceeded to tell me to call code enforcement to report the issue. I told her that I had already done that three times and nothing has been done. She told me to call again. At this point I am scared to open my doors and windows, my children and I can not go outside and it seems as if no one cares to deal with the issue, ie: my neighbor is renting out campers in his yard and has people living inside them with no sewer hook-up.
