How was heading out past Lincoln Memorial cemetery for lunch, when I seen this laying in the roadway of the cemetery. With nobody around I thought it looked odd, so I decided to take a couple pictures. Not sure if this is supposed to be here but it seems a little out of the ordinary.

It's a burial vault. They use this to line the dug out hole. The deceased coffin is put into it and then the cement cover goes on. Keeps the dirt from sinking and helps maintain the casket and remains.
