This was taken in Newport, OR today around 1 PM. My husband noticed this unusual 'ring' around the sun and took these digital pictures of it.

It was sunny all day today, and yesterday, and after I saw many "contrails" in the sky...this appeared and now it is cloudy.

My girlfriend and I are in Portland, OR. We also see this enormous rainbow ring around the sun. It's very amazing and beautiful. Putting your hand up to block out the sun allows you to see the ring very well.
