The photo’s attached were just taken earlier around 6:15 - 6:30 PM. My husband Jeff & I took a hike around Round Lake in Camas WA to get photos of the Camas Lilies in bloom. So, I had my camera in hand when we came across the bear. I am zoomed in so I’m not as close as it looks. It was not afraid of us at all though, in fact it almost seemed to lazily walk towards us. It wasn’t long before the WA State Dept. of Fish & Wildlife showed up. They said the bear is acting like this because it’s used to people and has been fed by people as well. They were going to tranquilize it to relocate it and said because people have been feeding it, they are unsure if it will survive somewhere else out in the wild. It was such a cool experience and a sad one at the same time. People need to leave the wildlife alone. I know they think they are helping or don’t think they are doing any harm but in fact it’s just the opposite. As a wildlife photographer, I love the photo’s I have of the experience but along with that comes a very heavy heart. I sure hope it survives.
