I'm having a difficult time hearing and understanding your editorial with the background music.

What tri-met fare inspector was assaulted. Where? You're a bus driver? Are you armed? Is it a problem for you?

Fare inspectors caring guns now? HAHAHA they don't even do the job there supposed to do. I am a regular rider and watch them do nothing but talk and drink coffee. People smoke/ride bikes right in front of them. They don't write them up. There a joke!

Let's BE HONEST HERE I've personally watched TRI-MET BUS DRIVERS give out FREE all day bus tickets to people. I've watched TRI-MET BUS DRIVERS let people on the bus for FREE. I know a BUS DRIVER who tells people the code for the day. CORRUPT COMPANY

The fact of the matter is that our fare inspectors are indeed getting attacked and it is not being reported by the media. I am simply advocating that they have some sort of defensive capability. And the whole company is not corrupt!

I don't drive, so really appreciate TRIMET, but do not use MAX at all due to reports on muggings. Nobody, except law-inforcers, should carry weapons of any kind and violent persons should be branded and not allowed on public transport.

Nobody, except law-inforcers, should carry weapons of any kind and violent persons should be branded and not allowed on public transport. ...NO ONE would be safe then. Police barely prevent, let alone actually are there to stop events.

Adron: I'm not a law enforcement officer, but I WOULD defend myself or anyone else I saw being attacked on the MAX, and I DO carry a pistol legally on the train, and you should feel more secure than alarmed that I do. Your thinking is backwards!

Ryan i didn't realize that you could carry a pistol on the max...even with a concealed gun permit you are not allowed to carry a gun...that's private property and they do not allow weapons on the max...better check that out next time you ride..

My son-in-law is a deputy and I believe he carries a weapon at all times. He is considered on duty 24-7. I would feel safer just knowing he was available and willing to step in in the case of need.

I have always found TriMet employees to be very helpful and friendly. Sure, the ticket checking people don't always aggressively enforce the rules but isn't that what's so great about Portland. This isn't New York City!

Those with valid concealed weapon permits absolutely CAN carry on the MAX/Buses - they also can carry at airports. Thank God there are some good folks that do carry. Fare Inspectors allowed to carry? Definitely NOT!

Why not just have tri-met be 100% federally subsidized and not charge any fare. Imagine how many more riders there would be, and how few fare inspectors there would be.

How about stop spending money on fare inspectors and actually fix the machines, clean the stops, and maintenance ; every other Max Train is "not in service".
