Lawn chair balloonist, as seen from Silver Star Mountain

Lawn Chair Balloonist, crash site photos

My friend and I started hiking Silver Star Mountain at 11 am on June 22 when we noticed a cluster of balloons in the air with something large dangling below, so we snapped a photo. A short time after we saw across the valley the balloons had landed in a remote forested area several miles north of us, hung up on the tops of trees. A passing hiker said it was likely the lawn-chair balloonist who had taken off earlier that morning. Concerned he may have been injured during the crash, I hiked to the top of a ridge to get cell service and called 911 to alert them of the balloonist's approximate location.
