Grandma Alice with her 6 grandchildren

Grandma turns 105

Grandma Alice (Aho) turns 105 on July 31st but the family celebrated early by taking her up the Columbia River on the Sternwheeler last Sunday, July 14th. She was surrounded with 17 family members and friends, including 6 great grandchildren. Last year the family took Alice up the chairlift at Timberline Lodge for her 104th birthday which was very fitting since she had climbed the mountain 4 times in her youth. The first climb was in 1937. Alice still lives in her own home in NE Portland, enjoys her family & friends & keeps up on current events. She still meets with her Garden Club, although now it's more for lunch than gardening. She enjoys her small garden of flowers on her porch and going out to lunch and dinner with her son, Dave Aho. Her daughter, Diane Aho, lives with her in NE Portland. Alice was in the first graduating class at Grant High School. She was born in 1908, the same year at the Model T Ford!

Nice to see such a classy lady still around. She obviously took good care of herself. I'm betting her secret to a long life was a lot of exercise.
