Stern Wheeler "Portland" Runs aground

The Stern Wheeler Portland ran aground near Bonneville Dam this evening. Damage was visible on the paddle wheel portion of the boat when it as it made its way to the visitor's dock at Port of Cascade Locks Marina. The Portland was aided by a near by tug boat.

Several agencies were involved including Skamania County Sheriff's office, Hood River County Sheriff's Office and the US Coast Guard.

Sternwheeler Rose is now based in Oregon City. They board at the Jon Storm Park. Just under the Rivershore Hotel on Clackamette Drive.

The race was suspended, according to the Portland Spirit website. The festivities are expected to continue unaffected.
