Teacher Appreciation Week

This week many schools around the nation celebrate national teachers week. Scholastic and Learning A-z provide teachers with coupons, free trial products and an occasional chance to win a prize showing their thanks to educators everywhere, and so many of teachers like myself appreciate their gesture and gifts.
I have taught for a little over ten years, 1 grade through 6th grade, and I have never requested a single gift or treat from my students and their families. This year I have received thank you emails, student made posters and cards and I have been treated to a few goodies that have been so thoughtful I am reminded of how blessed I am by these kids with each Skittle I snack on.
Knowing how truly blessed I am I do have a request that only our very own local news channels can help with. Farmers insurance has provided teachers with a chance to win $2,500 for their classrooms with a project called thankamillionteachers and the top six votes from each of the five regions will win $2,500 for their proposal. There are only a handful from Oregon and mine is one of them. My proposal is to purchase camping gear for outdoor school so I can take my 6th grade students camping for a week for that wonderful outdoor education that has been slowly cut out of so many schools for so many unfortunate reasons. I have a donorschoose.org/camplindley site that I have set up to get some materials but that requires people to make donations. However, voting for my proposal on Farmers Insurance thankamilllionteachers project only requires you to spend less than a minute on your smart phone, computer or laptop to type in Maupin, Oregon and vote for my proposal using your email address. I currently only have 134ish votes and there are only a few 3-5 other teachers from our state with a proposal and we are all getting our tails kicked by Montana and Idaho?! What!? They have 1,200 more votes than I have and I am from awesome Oregon!! So please with sugar on top can you please help spread the word about a way to make my teacher appreciation week the best one ever? Thank you for keeping us informed.
