Food Prices Soaring

Prices for meat, poultry, fish and eggs across the nation shot up to all-time highs in May, according to a report released Tuesday by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Bacon has risen sharply also in recent months, thanks to a virus that has killed millions of American pigs.

A combination of drought in the nation's biggest agricultural states and winter storms that killed off thousands of cattle last year are to blame for the higher prices.

Some people have begun gardens to help off set the costs.

There is some speculation as to rather or not this may lead to food shortages .
