On 6/27/08 in Depoe Bay, OR, a local kid, only 20 yrs old, was struck by a minivan while riding his motorcycle on an errand to the post office. Tyler Turner, a local baseball hero, was left paralyzed from the chest down. On August 16th, a small group of friends will hold a homerun derby to raise funds for Tyler. This small coastal community has pulled together in a way that just seems like a miracle. Little league teams, high school teams, co-ed softball teams are all pulling together to "TAKE A TURN FOR TYLER". Even the OSU Beavers have made a donation to the cause. Tyler played on the Corvallis Richey's team and is known throughout the state as a great kid and baseball player.
We would like to invite anyone who has ever played baseball or has had a tragedy in their life to join us in the homerun derby and "TAKE A TURN FOR TYLER".
The weather will be great on the coast in Lincoln City, OR on 8/16/08. The Derby starts at 12:00 pm and there will be base running contests for kids 7 and under, BBQ's and concessions all day, prizes for the youngest batter, the oldest batter, most homeruns and more. We will have a shorter fence for kids 12 and under and females.
PLEASE MENTION THIS GREAT CAUSE!!!
Thank you with all our hearts.
