Lightening strikes Newberg's Pool Park

The Special Olympic State Games were under lock down for good reason Sunday morning. As athletes, staff, and spectators took refuge in the gym and other building structures. Outside, high above thunder boomed and lightening repeatedly struck, putting on a spectacular show.
I assembled with members of Newberg Boy Scout Troop 520 as they rendezvoused to leave for a week long summer camp at Mt. Jefferson. It wasn't until I drove a few blocks that I saw exactly where one of the loudest lightening strikes had touched down. The NPD had just arrived and had taped off a large tree at the entrance of Newberg Oregon's Babe Nicklous Pool Park. I pulled and snapped some shots. This was taken on my phone but I have many more on my 35mm.
Within the hour a work crew had arrived and had started cutting it down. I was fortunate enough to be there prior to the cleanup, but even more fortunate that no one was hurt!
