Filmmakers take to the streets of La Grande this coming week. Cold Coffee Media in collaboration with "Crossing the Blues: La Grande Summer Festival" has put together a unique and entertaining community project.

On Monday, August 18th - 4 teams will be given a genre, location, one-liner, and a mystery prop - along with camera packages donated by local businesses and will be sent out into the community to write, shoot, and edit a 15 minute short film to be screened Friday Night, August 22 at 10:30 pm off the main festival stage at the La Grande Summer Festival.

This event is in an effort to introduce more film and video related arts into Eastern Oregon. Christopher Jennings of Cold Coffee Media had this to say: "The event is fun, like other 48 hour film events, this gives participants a quick shot of adrenaline to really focus on creating a project all the way through... it will bring people together and offers another perspective on things..."

The event has roughly 25 filmmakers signed up, in varying levels of experience and involvement, and includes the historic downtown of La Grande as its backdrop.

There will be more news to come as the filmmakers get going and behind-the-scenes footage is released. Cold Coffee Media plans to use this FREE event as a way to gain more interest and funding for future film related activities.

This sounds like a great event and effort to extend the film community east of the cascades. The entire crossing the blues festival looks like a great time. I guess I am going to La Grande next weekend!

Wow, this should be in the local news, I would love to go there, but it's so far away! I'd love to participate in this event for sure.....K
