The judge was correct in finding me guilty of disorderly conduct for protesting at the day labor center. Like he said, if you want to engage in civil disobedience, you must pay the price. The judge was wrong when he said Portland has a good city attorney and he would not allow the city council to do anything illegal. He also said it was inappropriate for me to accuse the city council of doing something illegal. I have plenty of proof that what is going on at the day labor site is illegal, he just wasn't buying it. I attempted to put the city council on trial at my own trial. I consider $500 a fair price to keep this illegal day labor center on the front burner and a fair price to get this courtroom experience under my belt prior to the real trial - my lawsuit against Potter, Saltzman and Leonard. That will be a jury trial and I will be prepared.
