Day Laborer

Fined $500 for Disorderly Conduct

The judge was correct in finding me guilty of disorderly conduct for protesting at the day labor center. Like he said, if you want to engage in civil disobedience, you must pay the price. The judge was wrong when he said Portland has a good city attorney and he would not allow the city council to do anything illegal. He also said it was inappropriate for me to accuse the city council of doing something illegal. I have plenty of proof that what is going on at the day labor site is illegal, he just wasn't buying it. I attempted to put the city council on trial at my own trial. I consider $500 a fair price to keep this illegal day labor center on the front burner and a fair price to get this courtroom experience under my belt prior to the real trial - my lawsuit against Potter, Saltzman and Leonard. That will be a jury trial and I will be prepared.

Good thing the Indians didn't hold the same attitude when the folks on the Mayflower took possession of land that under common law belonged to them. Wonder if under the saying "In God We Trust" if this God believes there are any illegals aliens?

Sue, Mexicans are not the rightful owners. They signed over their share of what is now the US in a treaty. If we go by your "wonderful logic of ownership" then I think the whole world will be doing a lot of territory give backs.

Even if some of the people are not legal residents, what's so bad about SEEKING WORK? If they were applying for benefits or if you wanted the work or you were at the border I could understand protests. The taxpayer benefits when more work.

I am amazed at the the post by Abel Johnson. There is nothing racist about what this man did. Also Sue, why would you want a slave labor class to serve you your food. Just sad.

One last thing are you going to go out and work in the feilds to feed americans. Who made your food? Who served you your food? Who grows all the food that you eat?

I'm sorry to say that non of you are americans. All of our forfathers came from some other country. So that make all of us illegals. The Indians and Mexicans are the right full owners of this land.

Love the way you put it Rehearsal. It is always the ones who have nothing invested who don't get it. I as a taxpaying american am sick of watching these illegal thieves and their anchor babies take advantage of the benefits our citizens are denied

like we owe them a living or we owe them support but when we ask for help. We are told that you don't need it or you don't deserve it. How about we stop all of these handouts to all of the other countries for a while and see what happnes.

You know it seames that alot of people always say I am Mexican american or African anerican or what ever they are american. WHEN IT COMES TO THIS GREAT LAND THAT I PROUDLY SERVED IN THE MILITARY. I am tired of hearing that we must GIVE UP>>

The claim of racism is nothing more than a straw man to try to divert attention from the issue. ILLEGAL aliens being facilitated by the city government. And before you try to pull the racism card on me, I'm a LEGAL immigrant and NATURALIZED citizen

Rehearsal says ... on Wednesday, Aug 20 at 3:51 PM

Abel: Again, why is it that people who have nothing of value to contribute to a conversation always play the race card? I wasn't charged or convicted of trespassing. I paid my fine yesterday. Come to Potter's trial and learn the truth, if interested.

Abel Johnson says ... on Tuesday, Aug 19 at 11:05 PM

Your claims are so empty about the Day Labor Center. I bet we will see you in jail for trespassing again before it ever gets shut down. It is sad that Portland has racists like you running around. You can say what you want, but break laws you won't

The absolute hypocrisy of the judge, the city council and Potter and his ilk makes me sick. You're doing the right thing of course but I'd make your legal draft regarding the city council nice and brief and concise. Then you'll get through.

Thank you for taking your punishment with a "grain of salt." You are making a difference and I hope the "leaders" of the city are sweating under your lawsuit. One man can make a change!!!

MaxtorMan says ... on Tuesday, Aug 19 at 8:32 AM

I commend you for your courage to stand up for what is right. The judge is way off base when he claims The City of Portland isn't promoting illegal immigration. Many people simply don't understand the negative issues caused by illegal aliens.
