We are not sure if you know Jack, but we think you know his lovely bride Chris of Pacific City “Village Merchants” fame.
Since seeing On Golden Pond in 1981, childhood friends Jack Fleming and Steve Crew always talked about bringing in the big one, their “Walter”, if you will.
Well on Sunday morning, they put out to do just that at River’s Inlet in British Columbia. Minutes (they did not have all their poles rigged yet) after leaving the dock in their trusty yacht # 12A, Walter hit on their plug cut herring and barbless hook and the fight began.
With the steady helming and guidance of Steve Crew, Fleming who is fit and as solid as a rock took old Walter to the mat; and the rest is history.
Walter, Steve and Jack flew back to Renton, Washington on a chartered single engine float plane where U.S. Customs Officer Wu said “that is a big fish” and was then driven to Oregon late yesterday.
