Sunset Classic Marching Band Competition

20th Annual Sunset Classic
High School Marching Band Competition

“The Sunset Classic”, a premier competitive event for high school marching bands of the Pacific Northwest, will be held on Saturday, September 27th, 11:00am at Hillsboro Stadium in the Gordon Farber Recreational Complex at US 26 and Cornelius Pass Road. This is an all day event with finals beginning at 5:00 PM.

Come hear the region’s finest high school bands compete. Bands include Beaverton, Westview, Southridge, Hillsboro, Century, Glencoe, Liberty, West Salem, Evergreen, St. Helens, Aloha, Skyview and Sunset High Schools. All bands will compete in preliminary competition starting at 11:00am and Finals competition starting at 5:00pm.

The spectacle of color, sound and movement is hosted by Sunset High School Marching Band & Auxiliary and attracts families and fans of the over 1,500 musicians and auxiliary members that come from many high schools throughout the Northwest. The Presenting Sponsor of this 20th annual event is PACIFIC OFFICE AUTOMATION.

Each school group competes for distinction in such categories as High Music, High Percussion, High Auxiliary and Outstanding Soloist. Dancers and auxiliary members with their colorful costumes and flags join the talented young musicians in the exciting, creative drill formations, as they perform works by contemporary as well as classical composers.

This is a fun event for the whole family, and a great way to support our school’s music programs. All proceeds benefit Sunset High School Marching Band and Auxiliary (SAMBA) and help to keep our fine instrumental music programs alive.

All-Day Tickets will be available at the Hillsboro Stadium Box Office the day of the event. Admission is $15 for adults, $ 10 Seniors, and $7 for students. Children under 5 are free.
