A New LITTLE Museum in Oregon City

Have you ever been fascinated by a tiny object or a dollhouse?

October is National Miniature month. The Northwest Miniature Show will be Oct 4 and 5, 2008 at the Portland Kliever Memorial Armory located at 10000 NE 33rd Dr., Portland. Sheri O’Brien, along with Forty-five other venders will be selling miniature in all scales some hand made and one of a kind and others my know manufactures.

Ms O’Brien owns the only miniature store in the greater Portland area, Hand Crafted For You, located at 616 Main St in Oregon City. She was selling handicrafts by local crafters when she started selling miniatures about 4 years ago. Local forth grade students and their parents were looking for miniature flour sacks, barrels and guns for class projects studying The Oregon Trial. Ms O’Brien has developed a strong interest in Oregon History herself and has found many items for the covered wagon projects making sure that they are date appropriate for the school projects.

Sheri O’Brien Owner of Hand Crafted For You is preparing for Oregon’s 150th birthday by working on a miniature one room cabin to represent a museum from the 1860’s. This will be displayed at the Northwest Miniature Show on Oct 4th and 5th. All the exhibits in this little museum are 1” scale. Most miniatures are scaled 1”=1’ which is called “one inch scale” and means that one inch in your hand equals 1 foot in the dollhouse world. Other scales are ½” and ¼” or 1/2”=1’ and ¼”=1” respectfully.
