Early Saturday morning, Oct. 4, outside our window in the Portland Plaza, what should we see but a huge amount of mysterious foam coming out of the Keller Fountain and coating the trees and sidewalk, and floating in clumps in the air around downtown. The few passers-by looked in wonder, as did a couple of city trucks, but no one seems to know what to do about it. One by one they leave, after staring, and some passers-by even playing in it. Will we ever know what it is? A prank? A new way of cleaning the fountain? Snow in Portland?
What's this in the Keller Fountain?

Looks to me like someone put some sort of soap in the fountain. Someone did that in the Port Angeles Washington fountain years ago and made it so they shut it down. How sad that people have to ruin things like this.

A likely expensive (emphasize "expensive") prank. It's happened before and it's reported that it isn't light on the city's wallet. KATU.com: http://www.katu.com/news/9398071.html and http://www.katu.com/news/3645301.html.
