When the hunters come looking to kill their Elk. The Bulls are smart enough to head to the Jewell Wildlife Refuge. They stay in the safety zone until the hunting time is over. They hang for a while at the Refuge, then head out again to the mountains. "Smart Elk"

If you've never been to the Jewell wildlife meadows you need to make it a part of your itinerary on your next trip to Seaside. Many times you can see hundreds of elk as close at 25-30 yards. They are amazing animals.

Wow. That is amazing! I hope that when we get to go to the refuge soon for our photography class, that I can get a shot as awesome as that!
