Hummingbirds aren't just at the coast, Anna's hummingbirds are also wintering in the Willamette Valley. Syrup is crucial to them. Keep it from freezing by wrapping the feeder in Christmas lights. I'm also leaving net lights on all day in a bush where I know they rest.

It is not true that feeding hummingbirds keeps them from migrating; hummer migration is stimulated by photoperiod and not availability of food. If you have hummingbirds in your yard, keep the food coming and ice free!

This lady should have stopped feeding the hummingbirds months ago so that they would fly south for the winter. Not so cute when you know that this bird is hungry and not where it should be.
