The tv says it is rain in Salem and we have family that says it is snowing there at 12:00 noon on Sat, Dec. 20th. I have attached pictures I just took of the snow falling here in Dallas, OR We live 4 miles south of Dallas in the country and it has snowed here all nite and all morning. A light powdery snow fell last nite with little accumulation but we are now having and have had for several hours a wetter snow falling heavily. We have packed snow on our drive and road and the wet snow is now on top of that making it dangerous to travel on. Our road has about a foot of snow on it with tire tracks going through it as we share it with about 20 other families. We live off the main highway, Kings Valley Highway #223 and it has not been sanded all week and travel is dangerous. My daughter in law is schduled to work in the sleep center tonite in Salem and it will be very dangerous for her to get to work if she even can. She may get down the hill but probably won't get up it even with 4 wheel drive. I have been basically trapped here all week. My grandkids only had school Thurs so I have a bad case of cabin fever going and worried I won't get my Christmas shopping done as I still have several gifts to get. The weather is beautiful and hopefully we won't get any power outages. The future forcast doesn't look to be promising to be off the hill any time soon... This is a picture of Dallas, OR, Sat at 12:00 noon. It snowed here all nite a powdery snow until about 8 and then it turned to a wet snow. As you can see it is coming down pretty good and has for hours. The tv says it is raining here and it has not rained here at all,,, nothing but snow.
