(Hood River, OR - 12/20/08) Non-stop snow from a series of winter storms turns the Columbia Gorge hamlet of Hood River into a winter wonderland. Residents coping with the 3-plus feet of fresh snow in stride. Downtown Hood River businesses are open and enjoying an uptick in last minute holiday shopping, as the closure of I-84 keeps residents closer to town. The City of Hood River has declared a 'snow emergency' effective at midnight on Saturday. The 'snow emergency' means no parking will be allowed on designated snow routes and any parked cars will be immediately ticketed and towed.
