Ice is not breaking

Amanda, Ryan, Madelyn & Casey have 8 inches of snow in the backyard with now a 1 1/2 inch layer of ice on top at Orchards. We threw a piece of ice into the air and when it landed it shattered. It didn't even make a dent in the ice on the ground.
